Accountable Recruitment is pleased to be working in partnership with a well-established, values-led organisation based in Liverpool city centre. The business is seeking to appoint an experienced Interim Head of Financial Operations on a 3-6 month contract to provide senior financial leadership within a complex group structure.

This is a high-impact interim role, offering the opportunity to play a critical part in strengthening financial governance, supporting transformation activity and acting as a trusted strategic partner to the Executive team.
The role will suit a fully qualified finance leader with substantial post-qualification experience, particularly within large, regulated or multi-entity environments, who is comfortable operating at senior leadership level and driving change at pace.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the group's financial operations and controls, leading a broad financial accounting remit across the organisation and its subsidiary entities.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the group financial accounting function, with full accountability for statutory reporting, year-end accounts, financial control and regulatory compliance.

  • Acting as a strategic finance partner to the Executive team, providing insight and challenge to support organisational change and transformation initiatives.

  • Overseeing taxation, treasury, investment management, capital structure and foreign exchange exposure, ensuring financial optimisation while managing risk.

  • Playing an active role within the Finance Leadership Team, contributing to departmental strategy and wider organisational objectives.

  • Developing, managing and reporting on departmental KPIs, ensuring delivery against agreed plans and timelines.

  • Ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all statutory financial and fiscal reporting.

  • Providing assurance over the effectiveness of financial controls, reporting processes and risk management frameworks.

  • Leading the annual external audit process and supporting internal audit activity where required.

  • Overseeing transactional finance functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger.

  • Ensuring robust intercompany accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, group consolidation and capital & fixed asset reporting.

  • Developing and maintaining group-wide financial policies, procedures and financial risk registers.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller or Head of Finance role.

  • Proven track record of leading finance teams within complex, regulated or group environments.

  • Strong experience in statutory reporting, group consolidation, audit and regulatory compliance.

  • Solid technical knowledge of taxation (including corporation tax, VAT and income tax), treasury and foreign currency management.

  • Experience working within complex or international group structures, including collaboration with overseas entities or partners.
