Accounts Assistant

We're working with a well-established and growing organisation based in Liverpool that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This role offers excellent exposure to month-end management accounts and would suit someone with strong transactional experience who is keen to continue developing their career in finance.

Reporting into the Management Accounts Manager, you'll support the preparation of monthly management accounts across the group while also assisting with the day-to-day running of the finance function.

The role will include:

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and journal postings
• Processing purchase invoices using OCR capture and ensuring accurate coding
• Raising and processing sales invoices, including revenue reconciliations and preparation of accrued/deferred income journals
• Posting bank transactions and completing bank reconciliations
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and posting depreciation
• Processing intercompany invoices, postings and journals
• Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
• Supporting supplier payment runs and loading payments for approval
• Reviewing staff expenses to ensure accurate coding and VAT treatment
• Assisting with ad-hoc finance duties, particularly during busy month-end periods

About you:

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
• Previous exposure to transactional accounting is essentia
• Actively studying or looking to begin studying (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review work
• Organised, adaptable and comfortable working to deadlines
• Keen to progress within finance and develop month-end experience
