Finance Director - 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a well-respected charity in Chorley to appoint an experienced Finance Director on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover).
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values-driven organisation and play a pivotal role in leading the finance function, ensuring sound financial management, governance, and compliance. You will report into the Chief Financial Officer and manage a finance team of 2 direct and 7 indirect reports. The role is primarily focused on the day-to-day running of finance while also supporting the wider organisation's strategic objectives.
Salary/benefits:
- £70,000
 - 12 month fixed-term contract (maternity cover)
 - Hybrid working available (must be North West Based)
 
Job Duties:
- Lead the day-to-day management of the finance function.
 - Oversee preparation of management accounts, annual budgets, forecasts, and statutory accounts in line with charity SORP.
 - Ensure compliance with statutory, audit, and regulatory requirements.
 - Maintain and strengthen financial systems, processes, and controls.
 - Provide financial analysis, insight, and advice to support decision-making.
 - Partner with internal stakeholders, supporting budget holders and the wider organisation.
 - Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators.
 - Lead, inspire, and support a finance team of 2 direct and 7 indirect reports.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Ideal experience:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
 - Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role within the charity, not-for-profit, public sector or healthcare sector.
 - Strong knowledge of charity accounting, compliance, and financial controls.
 - Proven leadership and people management skills.
 - Excellent communication and stakeholder management ability.
 - A hands-on, adaptable approach with the ability to deliver both operational and strategic responsibilities.
