Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a market leading business based in Chester to recruit a high-calibre Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong, fully qualified accountant looking to develop within a dynamic and fast paced business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Own the balance sheet and ensure robust controls are in place across all key accounts
  • Work closely with auditors and manage the year-end audit process
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital monitoring
  • Oversee VAT and other regulatory returns
  • Lead and develop a small finance team
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with FP&A or commercial finance colleagues
  • Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and internal controls
  • Act as a key finance contact for senior stakeholders across the business

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Post-qualified experience in a technical finance role, ideally as a 2nd or 3rd move from practice or industry
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS; experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Excellent attention to detail and a hands-on approach to financial control
  • Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and present to senior leadership
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Proven track record of improving systems, controls, and processes
