Head of Finance (Interim)

Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a large, complex organisation in central Liverpool that is seeking to appoint an experienced Interim Head of Finance on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a senior finance leadership opportunity, offering responsibility for governance, reporting, business partnering and operational finance across a diverse organisation. Working closely with the executive team, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, driving continuous improvement and ensuring a robust financial control environment.

This opportunity would suit an experienced, qualified finance leader with a strong track record of operating at Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Director level within a complex organisation.

Salary/Benefits:

• £65,000 - £75,000

Head of Finance Job Duties:

• Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management, reporting and business support.
• Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic financial insight and support organisational objectives.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and risk management frameworks are maintained.
• Lead the production of statutory accounts and oversee external audit requirements.
• Provide leadership across financial accounting, management accounting and transactional finance functions.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and reporting capabilities.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance.
• Support organisational change initiatives, investment decisions and business transformation projects.
• Develop meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Manage key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team.

Ideal Experience:

• Immediately Available to start on a 12 month fixed term basis
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant post-qualification experience within a senior finance leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams within complex organisations.
• Strong experience of financial planning, reporting, governance and control.
• Ability to influence and partner effectively with senior stakeholders and executive teams.
• Experience driving change, transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong commercial awareness combined with excellent technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience managing external audit and regulatory requirements.
• Strong systems and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insights.
• Collaborative leadership style with excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
