Assistant Management Accountant
An established and growing organisation is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to develop their management accounting experience within a complex, multi-entity environment. The successful candidate will support financial reporting, month-end processes, business performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
The Role
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Produce variance analysis and support the reconciliation of accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and maintain month-end balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
- Review financial transactions and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Perform bank, cash, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Assist with cashflow reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Prepare financial and operational performance reports, including KPI analysis.
- Support the production of reporting packs and management information for senior stakeholders.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Support compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and reporting tools.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to provide financial support and insight.
- Assist colleagues across the finance function during peak periods to ensure team objectives and deadlines are achieved.
- Ensure all financial information is prepared accurately, consistently, and in line with internal controls and company policies.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a management accounting or assistant management accounting role.
- Experience supporting month-end reporting and financial analysis.
- AAT Level 4 qualified, part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
