Assistant Financial Accountant

Location: Liverpool
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 DOE

Overview of the Role

Accountable are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join a growing finance team within a well-established business. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for producing timely and accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, maintaining forecasts, and providing valuable financial insight to support business performance.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to develop their skills within a fast-paced commercial environment while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting and reporting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly financial reports and management information to support business performance.
  • Maintain and update rolling forecasts in partnership with operational teams.
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end accounts, including profit & loss reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare VAT returns and support intercompany reporting processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to finance and commercial stakeholders.
  • Assist with payroll-related activities and reporting requirements.
  • Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required.
  • Support ongoing improvements to financial reporting, controls, and processes.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience within a finance, accounting, or management accounts environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, SUMIFS, and Pivot Tables.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA desirable.
