Job Role: Financial Controller
Length of contract: 6 months fixed-term (possible perm)
Location: Outskirts of Liverpool
Working pattern: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home
Salary: up to £90,000
The Company
Our client is a well-established, privately owned business forming part of a wider international group. Operating within a technical, manufacturing-led environment.
The Role
The Financial Controller will lead the UK finance function, working closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team to drive performance, strengthen controls and support strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a site-based manufacturing environment, combining operational finance oversight with commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Business Partnering
* Act as the lead finance contact for the site, supporting the senior leadership team
* Provide commercial analysis to support profitability and operational decision-making
* Deliver clear, actionable insights to non-finance stakeholders
Financial Reporting & Control
* Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
* Ensure timely and accurate management reporting and group submissions
* Maintain robust financial controls in line with group standards
Manufacturing & Cost Control
* Consolidating monthly management accounts, lead cost accounting, stock valuation and margin analysis
* Improve visibility and accuracy of site costing (materials, labour and overheads)
* Partner with operations to drive efficiencies, yield improvements and cost optimisation
Planning & Forecasting
* Own budgeting, forecasting and longer-term planning processes
* Manage cash flow and working capital effectively
* Support investment decisions, including capex and project-based initiatives
Team Leadership
* Lead and develop the on-site finance team
* Build capability in financial analysis, controls and business partnering
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
Group & Compliance
* Act as the key link to the wider group finance function
* Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and audit requirements
* Support internal and external audit processes
About You
Experience
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Strong background in operational finance, including costing and analysis
* Experience working within a group reporting structure
