Commercial Finance Manager / Liverpool / Salary £65,000 - £70,000

Accountable Recruitment are pleased to be partnering with our client who are a leading business within their sector. Having growth from strength to strength in recent years, they are now looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join their growing finance team. This person will play a lead role in improving MI and visibility of the business performance for the Executive team.

This role sits in the commercial heartbeat of the business. You'll be responsible for delivering high‑quality financial insight across sales, margin and operational performance, while partnering with senior stakeholders to influence decisions and support delivery of key commercial goals.

Alongside hands‑on reporting ownership, you'll play an important role in coaching and developing the team, embedding strong standards and driving continuous improvement across finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver monthly management accounts across multiple trading entities, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
• Lead and develop a small finance team, setting clear objectives and driving performance and accountability.
• Take full ownership of the month‑end close, including balance sheet integrity and standardised reporting.
• Produce clear variance analysis versus prior periods, with insightful commentary on trading and cost performance.
• Prepare weekly and monthly KPI packs for senior leadership, highlighting trends and performance drivers.
• Analyse sales, margin and operating costs to support performance optimisation.
• Deliver business unit level, category and profitability analysis to inform commercial decisions.
• Partner with budget holders to challenge spend, improve efficiency and drive value.
• Support business cases, investment appraisals and financial models for strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to senior reporting, year‑end processes and audit support as required.
• Champion improvements in reporting, automation and data quality.

Key skills

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a strong background in commercial finance and management accounting.
• Proven experience managing or mentoring others.
• Advanced Excel capability, including modelling and analysis.
• Commercially minded, analytical and confident working with complex data.
• Strong communicator, comfortable challenging and influencing stakeholders.
• Organised, detail‑focused and effective in fast‑paced environments.
• Experience in retail, FMCG or multi‑site businesses would be beneficial.
• Exposure to ERP systems, reporting tools or BI platforms is advantageous.
